Clegwell Archers is a community archery club open to all from the ages of 8 and up. We encourage families and children as much as adults, and shoot in a relaxed atmosphere where the emphasis is on having fun rather than the strict competition you find in many clubs.

Our regular shoots take place at the facilities kindly provided at Clegwell Community Association, where we have the benefit of both indoor and outdoor areas - useful during the winter months!

In addition to our regular sessions we also organise club trips to woodland archery courses in the local area, which are a great experience of traditional archery for our keener members.

While our members are welcome to practice target shooting, the club emphasis is on traditional archery with longbows, flatbows and traditional recurves without sights and at unmarked distances. Of course some of our keener members do shoot Olympic standard recurves as well! While we try to cater for all, we unfortunately do not generally provide for those preferring to shoot compounds.

We are a member of the National Field Archery Society and follow their safety rules and shooting styles.

Our club is supported by Clegwell Community Association, Hebburn Council, Youthoria and National Lottery Awards for All.

Our regular sessions are held on the following days:

Saturdays 9am - 3pm
Sundays 10am - 3pm

Non-members are welcome to call along for a free introduction on either day, although you should first contact us to check there aren't any special events taking place.

Members pay £4 per day target fees. There is no time limit and members are welcome to shoot all day if they wish.

If required the club provides bow & arrow hire for £6.

A portion of the fees are paid to the community centre for facilities hire and storage. The remainder is added to club funds and used for the renewal of targets, equipment and the otherwise general benefit of club members.
