All members are expected to be familiar with the NFAS safety rules. In addition to these, we ask that everyone abide by our club rules to ensure a safe, fun experience for all.
Members who fail to adhere to club rules and standards of etiquette will be notified that their behaviour is unacceptable. Serious or repeated breaches will result in warnings, and the committee reserves the right to suspend a member's membership in the event of unacceptable behaviour.
Any member who has any concerns whatsoever - be they regarding club rules, other members or any other reason - should feel free to speak with one of the committee members.
We take our members' concerns seriously and treat any issues raised by members as confidential. We will attempt to resolve any issues quickly and to the satisfaction of those concerned.

Shooting
The following rules are the most important, and all members are expected to be familiar with them. Failure to follow the safety rules will result in warnings and you may be unable to participate further. If any club member is seen breaking a safety rule this should be reported to the safety officer or other club official.
1 Always check your equipment before use, eg for frayed strings, cracked limbs. Damaged equipment is potentially dangerous to you and those around you.
2 Never shoot a damaged arrow.
3 Never aim toward another person.
4 Never pretend to aim toward another person.
5 Always shoot in line with other archers. Do not aim to the side or shoot across other archers.
6 Always load up facing forward, never to your side or facing other archers.
7 Before beginning a new round always check that it is clear to shoot, taking care to look for anyone who may still be collecting arrows and hidden behind targets or backstop netting. Call "CLEAR TO SHOOT" to confirm the area is clear. Other archers should double check the shooting area and answer "CLEAR" if it is safe to shoot.
8 Never walk forward of another archer while they are shooting. You should always remain behind the shooting line.
9 Ensure there is plenty of space between you and other archers. Being too close can distract those around you or lead to unintentional contact whilst shooting.
10 Always check that the area is clear before each shot. If you are not sure, then do not shoot!
11 If anyone walks into the line of fire whilst members are shooting, or there is any other potential danger, immediately stop shooting, place your bow on the ground and sheath all your arrows. Any member can announce any such dangers by calling "FAST" and ensuring that everyone immediately stops shooting.
12 Always draw upwards from ground level to the target, never downwards from above. If you accidentally loose an arrow this prevents any stray shot from travelling very far.
13 All arrows should remain sheathed in your quiver unless you are shooting.
14 At the end of a round archers should call "CLEAR" to double check that everyone has finished shooting before moving in front of the shooting line to retrieve arrows.
15 Only move to retrieve your arrows when you are sure everyone has finished shooting.
16 Never run towards the target. You may trip and fall on an arrow, otherwise injure yourself or stand on and damage an arrow.
17 When a person is pulling arrows from a target other members should stand to the side of the target. Standing behind the person pulling the arrows can result in serious facial injury.
18 Arrows should be pulled straight from the point at which they entered the target. They should not be pulled at an angle, side to side or from the end. Doing so can bend or break the arrow.
19 Use common sense and keep your wits about you. Be safe and enjoy your archery!

Child Safety Policy
Above all we take the safety of children most seriously. Due to our concerns we regret that we are normally unable to accommodate children under the age of 8 years, although we are happy to make exceptions for family groups with appropriate supervision.
To ensure the safety of all participants we ask that all children under the age of 16 be accompanied by a parent at all times.
We would ask that children especially read through and take care to follow our general club rules and etiquette.
Thankyou and have fun!
